Trump organization to launch tokenized luxury resort in the Maldives with Dar Global

The Trump Organization, in partnership with Saudi developer Dar Global Plc, plans to build a new ultra-luxury resort in the Maldives and introduce what they describe as the world’s first tokenized hotel development tied to the project.

Named Trump International Hotel Maldives, the property will feature 80 high-end beach and overwater villas. According to a joint statement, the resort is slated to open by the end of 2028 and will be located about 25 minutes by speedboat from Malé, the capital.

A key element of the plan is tokenization—using blockchain technology to represent traditional assets, such as property ownership, as digital tokens. This allows the asset to be divided into smaller digital shares that investors can buy and trade. In this case, the companies say the tokenization will cover the development phase itself, giving investors a way to participate from the project’s inception.

The initiative follows a broader expansion of the Trump family’s business activities into digital assets, alongside recent supportive moves in the U.S. regulatory landscape related to crypto and stablecoins.

Dar Global, listed in London, is the international arm of a Saudi Arabian developer. The Maldives project adds to a growing portfolio of developments the two firms are pursuing under the Trump brand, particularly in the Gulf region, including projects in Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar. Dar Global is currently developing Trump Towers in Jeddah and Dubai, and collaborating on resorts, luxury residences, and golf courses in Qatar and Oman.

Separately, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is scheduled to visit Washington this week for meetings focused on strengthening ties between the two countries.
